Coffee has its origin in the ancient kingdom of Abyssinia, now known as modern day Ethiopia. A shepherd noticed his goats getting rowdy after eating the coffee cherries and upon trying some himself, he immeditately felt more energetic and lively. The monks soon cottoned on and started drinking this wonderful concoction themselves. Travelling Arabs took the newly discovered beverage back to the Middle East and a Spanish merchant took it to India, where it first became known as coffee!
