Since smudging is an ancient and ceremonial practice, it’s best to do so with awareness and in a mindful manner.

Our sage smudge stick bundles are exclusively sourced from farms focused on sustainability & eco-friendly best practices. Upon harvest, the sage is dried, and hand wrapped with cotton string. Notcommercially wild harvested, Californian white sage we use here at Embrace has been grown for us obviously in California. It is a plant that is native to the high desert ecosystems and its Latin name is Salvia apiana, although we doubt you will ever need to know that!
Smudging with sage is a Native American tradition to ward off negative energies and evil spirits and has been used throughout time in ceremonies, ritual and magick. Indigenous cultures all around the world have been burning sage for 1000’s of years.

WAYS TO USE SAGE
Since sage is a very ancient and ceremonial practice, we advise that you use it in a mindful manner receipting prayer or intentions as you do so.
Everybody will tell you how to sage in a different way but here at Embrace this is how we do it…
Cleansing a room, house, office, workspace….
As you start, think about why you are smudging and set the intention of what you want to achieve. As you hold that intention you can light your sage the same way you would incense and blow out the flame until your bundle is smouldering. Close all your windows and doors and make sure you turn your smoke alarm off whilst doing this. Just make sure to turn it back on once finished.
Start at the top of your front doorway and work in clockwise direction allowing the smoke from you sage into all corners of your home. It is always a good idea to use a feather or fan to help spread the smoke. The smoke will attach itself to negative energy and as it clears, it will take the negative energy with it.
You can allow the bundle to either burn out on its own or gently press it out in an abalone shell, the kitchen sink or outdoors. Always remember to never leave sage to burn on its own.
Once you have done your home why not try giving your whole body a big fat smudge. Better still, give everyone in the home one too! It is easy to do. Swirl the smudging wand gently around you or a mate from head to toe. Don’t forget under the soles of the feet and behind your neck where loads of negativity can enter our aura. Once this is done, your aura and energy field will be all clean.
You will feel that yourself and your room, home, office, workspace will feel so much better and lighter.

Start at their head, gently waft the smoke the way you do to yourself and move it back and forth, over their spine to their feet and tail. Watch their mood change now that they are all smudged!
