ABOUT THE WINE
Recently awarded a Trophy medal at the Global Fine Wine Challenge 2023, the grapes for this wine come from a small section of the Puketapu Block (Puketapu meaning Sacred Hill), herbicide-free and one of eleven blocks that form our Whenua Awa vineyard in the Upper Awatere Valley in Marlborough.
Nestled in a corner close to the Awatere River, grapes for this wine were carefully selected, hand-harvested in whole bunches, and pressed gently directly into stainless steel tanks our careful handling has helped to create a clean and fresh pure wine.
Tasting Notes
The cool, dry, wind-swept climate and free-draining alluvial soils in the Upper Awatere region contribute to the wine’s fresh, crisp and zesty mineral characteristics. Lively and fruit-forward, you’ll experience aromas of citrus zest, green apple and spring florals on the palate, an abundance of apple, lemon, lime and white peach. The flavours of this wine will continue to develop over time with underlying beeswax, pine forest, and subtle exotic spice aromatics rewarding patience and adding depth and charm.
A crisp and vibrant dry-style Riesling with great cellaring potential.
